Join us for the first event of our annual Summer Speaker Series, where we will learn all about aquatic invasive species! We will kick off the evening at 6:00 PM with a community potluck dinner at the Jack Creek Preserve Outdoor Education Center, so bring your favorite dish to share. Our feature event will begin at 7:00 with a presentation from Kate Wilson of the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation.
The gate on the private Jack Creek Road will be open on both the Ennis and Big Sky sides. Please carpool, as parking is limited at the Preserve. We strongly suggest driving a vehicle with 4WD.
From Ennis, head south on Highway 287 for about 1 mile and turn left onto Jeffers Rd (just before El Western Motel). Follow Jeffers Rd and turn right onto Jeffers Loop Rd (right before the church). Turn left on Jeffers Loop Rd at the "T". Follow Jeffers Loop Rd and turn right onto Jack Creek Bench Rd. Follow the Jack Creek Bench Rd. and turn left at the section turn (Shedhorn Ranch entrance is on this corner). Follow this road down the hill that turns steeply to the right, and stay to the right at the bottom where it merges with the Jack Creek Rd. Continue on the Jack Creek Rd. and pass through the Moonlight Basin gates. Follow the Jack Creek Rd. for about 4 miles until you reach the sign for the Jack Creek Preserve on your right (signs for parking will be posted).
From Big Sky, head west on Highway 64 towards Big Sky Resort. Continue on Highway 64 until you reach the Moonlight entryway, and turn right at the round-about onto Jack Creek Rd. Turn right at the Upper Jack Creek gate (second gate on the right, across from Cedar Mountain Corrals). Continue to follow the Jack Creek Rd. approximately ½ mile past mile marker 8. The entrance to the Outdoor Education Center is on the left.
